OLED displays provide better image quality, a low response time, low power consumption and a thinner design. While OLEDs are already very popular in smartphones and TVs, burn-in challenges and high production costs have resulted in slower adoption in the laptop market.
In 2019 all that changed as Samsung Display started producing 15.6" 4K AMOLED displays for the laptop market, and several leading makers (including HP, Lenovo and Dell) started to offer high-end OLED laptops. For more information and our OLED laptop news coverage, click here.
Following is a list of laptops with OLED displays:
Gigabyte's AERO 15 OLED is the world's first Microsoft Azure AI laptop which is "All Intel Inside". Features include Intel's 9th-Gen Core i7/i9 processors, Nvidia's RTX-20 / GTX-16 GPUs, and Samsung's 15.6" 3840x2160 AMOLED display with an ultra-thin 3 mm bezel (there's also an FHD 240Hz LCD screen option).
The Aero 15 Laptop OLED edition will ship in the summer of 2019, starting at $1,699.
Sager's NP8454 is a high-end gaming laptop that features a 15.6" UHD (3840x2160) AMOLED display (produced by Samsung Display), an Intel Core i7-9750H chipset, Nvidia RTX 2070 8GB DDR6 GPU, 16GB of RAM, 500GB of SSD storage and a colored-lighted keyboard.
The Sager NP8454 is now shipping starting at $1,899.
System76's Adder WS is a premium Linux laptop that features an SDC 15.6" 4K (3840x2160) AMOLED display, an Intel Core i7-9750H chipset (or an i9-9980HK), an RTX 2070 GPU, up to 64GB of RAM and up to 8TB of storage.
The Adder WS will start shipping in August 2019, the price was not revealed yet.
The Asus ZenBook Pro (UX581GV) is a unique laptop that offers two screens - an SDC 15.6" 4K (3840x2160) AMOLED main display and another, smaller 14" 4K-width LCD display that is placed above the keyboard.
Asus' multi-tasking OLED laptop is now shipping in the UK for £2,499.99.
Lenovo's 2019 P series laptops are portable workstation, that are based on 15.6" displays. There are several models - and the top-of-the-line P1 Gen 2, the P53 and the P73 all has optional 15.6" 4K touch AMOLED displays. The laptops are based on Intel's latest 9th-Gen CPUs.
Lenovo did not yet detail the price or shipping dates of its new P Series laptops.
The Razer Blade 15 Advanced is a high-end gaming laptop that has an optional SDC 15.6" 4K OLED display - which can replace the standard 144 Hz LCD (another option is a 240Hz FHD LCD). Other features include Intel's new Core i7-9750H chipset, RTX 2060 GPU and a new Wi-Fi 6 networking card.
The Razer Blade 15 Advanced is now shipping, starting at $2,399. The OLED model costs $3,500.
The Alienware m15 is a high-end gaming laptop that features, according to Dell, the thinnest Alienware design ever, an exceptional battery life, premium materials and impressive power.
The 2019 m15 laptop includes an optional OLED display - SDC's 15.6" 3840x2160 AMOLED. The 2019 m15 starts at $1,299.99 - and the OLED display is an $350 extra compared to the regular 15.6" 1920x1080 IPS display. The Alienware m15 is now shipping directly from Dell.
Lenovo's Yoga C730 is a convertible notebook that sports a 15.6" 3840x2160 touch AMOLED display. Features include an 8th-gen Core i7 CPU, up to 16GB of RAM, up to 512GB of SSD storage and high end audio.
Lenovo plans to start shipping the C730 in April 2019, starting at $1,650.
