In April 2019, after early reviewers reported that that the foldable screen in their Galaxy Fold devices broke down after a day or so, Samsung decided to delay the release of its foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Fold. Samsung started shipping the re-designed and improved Galaxy Fold in Korea on September 6.

Samsung took three months to re-design and fix all the issues in the Fold smartphone, it updated the design and upgraded the construction to better protect the device from external particles. An early review now says that the Galaxy Fold may be improved, but it is still not durable enough.

JerryRigEverything posted a review saying that the Galaxy Fold display, covered in plastic, is still highly prone to scratching - while a normal glass covered display will scratch at a level 6-7 on the Mohs hardness scale, the plastic display in the Galaxy Fold scratches at a level 2 to 3. Even a fingerprint can cause permanent damage.

The reviewer also tested with dust, and says that some dust still gets behind the display - the situation could be better than the original fold, but this is still could be highly problematic.

On a positive note, the reviewer found out that the hinge can withstand even extreme pressure when you try to bend it the wrong way. So this is something...

The Galaxy Fold features a 7.3" 1536 x 2152 foldable Infinity Flex AMOLED display that folds inside, in addition to a secondary cover display - a 4.6" 840×1960 Super AMOLED. The Galaxy Fold costs $2,000 and will soon start shipping outside of Korea.`
